One-Year-Old Run Over by Grain Trailer in Lenawee County, Passes Away

Rome Twp., MI – A one-year-old was killed when a grain trailer ran them over at a residence in Lenawee County. The Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, at 10:39am, Deputies responded to the 3000 Block of Hawkins Highway in Rome Township on a report of a one-year old child being struck by a Semi Truck.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a Semi truck and grain trailer driven by a 63-year-old male from Zeeland, MI, was backing up in the driveway of the residence to pick up a load of grain. While the semi and trailer were backing in the driveway a one-year-old male who lived at the residence ran behind the trailer and was run over by the grain trailer. The 1-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene. The family was home at the time, and next of kin has been notified.

The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene. The death is under further investigation. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by The Adrian Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit, Cambridge Twp Fire Department and Lenawee Community Ambulance.
