
Ilene Anna Kuhl, age 96, of Clinton, went to be with her Savior on September 28, 2024, in her home surrounded by family. She was born to the late Emil and Anna (Peitz) Thiem on October 4, 1927, and baptized on October 23,1927 at St John Lutheran Church, Kendallville, Indiana.
Ilene married Stanley LaDean Kuhl on September 8, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Adrian, Michigan. They celebrated 70 years together prior to his passing on February 19, 2016.
Ilene was a long-time resident of Adrian and she and Stan spent 25 years running Kuhl Industrial Supply Company. Upon their retirement, they relocated to Bradenton, Florida, and attended Hope Lutheran Church for many years. Ilene enjoyed creating beautiful hand-stitched quilts for her daughters, working puzzles, and reading. Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 40:31, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” Ilene will be remembered for her gentle spirit and strong faith in her Lord.
Surviving her are two daughters, Deborah Rogner and Patricia Durham; three grandsons, T.J. Sroufe, Patrick Sroufe, and Joshua Durham; and two great granddaughters, Leah and Desirae Sroufe.
In addition to her husband, Ilene was preceded in death by her daughter, Deanne Ilene; and her two brothers, Alfred and Arthur.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian. Her remains will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter at Hope Lutheran Church in Bradenton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M.O.S.T Missions via St. John’s Lutheran Church.
