Marian Ann Kafer – Blissfield

Marian Ann Kafer, age 92, of rural Blissfield, died Tuesday evening, September 24, 2024, at Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian. She was born August 25, 1932, in Blissfield, to the late Cecil and Velma (Miller) Ganun.

A lifelong Blissfield resident, Marian graduated from Blissfield High School with the Class of 1950. She married Alfred Dean Kafer on January 20, 1951, at Wellsville United Methodist Church. They celebrated 50 years together prior to his passing on August 17, 2001.

Marian spent her early years serving as a homemaker and raising her children. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, was skilled at crocheting, and was renown for her incredible baking skills—specifically her famous cinnamon rolls and various pies. She also enjoyed reading. Marian and Alfred were blessed with numerous camping trips across the States, including Alaska. Marian is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, whose tenacious spirit will be greatly missed.

Surviving are three children, Linda Kafer of Arvada, CO, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Kafer of Palmyra, and Barry Kafer of Blissfield; a brother, John “Jack” Ganun of Blissfield; five grandchildren, Temira Kafer, Elijah Kafer, Natasha Kafer, Melissa (Aaron) Warner, and Ethan (Mandie) Kafer; and five great-grandchildren, Makayla (Dakota) Asford, Jackson and Johnny Kafer, and Owen and Isaac Warner.

In addition to her husband, Marian was preceded in death by two daughters in infancy, Marie and Charlene Rose; and four siblings, Richard, Frank, Virginia, and Harriet.

In accordance with Marian’s wishes, cremation will take place, and no public services will be held. Her remains will be laid to rest with her husband in Palmyra Cemetery.
