Tecumseh, MI – Tecumseh Public Schools and the Tecumseh Police Department have investigated a social media post threatening violence against TPS, and determined that the threat was non-credible.

The school, and police, report that the threat was recirculated from a recent threat against Tecumseh Local Schools in New Carlisle, Ohio, which resulted in the arrest of a Tecumseh Local Schools student on Monday.

As a precaution, Superintendent Matt Hilton says that there will be an increased police presence at Tecumseh Public Schools buildings for the rest of the week. TPD reminds the community that reposting or creating threatening content can lead to severe consequences, including legal action and possible expulsion.

TPS and TPD say that no threat is too small to report. In addition to the school district’s forms, the state of Michigan’s OK2SAY reporting system is available for reporting concerns. TPS says that all practices, sports, and other events scheduled for the rest of the week will go on as planned.
