
Monroe County, MI – Police arrested two Tecumseh residents after an initial traffic stop in Monroe county Monday evening. The Michigan State Police Monroe Post reports that the traffic stop occurred just before 8pm on South Custer Road, east of Ida-Maybee Road for a moving violation.
MSP says that during the initial contact, the driver, a 42-year-old male from Tecumseh was suspected of operating while intoxicated. While attempting to place the driver in custody, the female passenger, a 35-year-old female from Tecumseh attempted to interfere with the arrest of the male driver.
While the trooper was attending to the female passenger and placing her in custody for obstruction, police say that the male driver fled the scene on foot and failed to comply with the verbal commands from the trooper.
The driver was ultimately arrested and lodged at the Monroe County Jail. Charges are being sought against the driver.
