Fulton County, OH – The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Monday at around 1:30 p.m at an intersection in Fulton County.
The Post says that a 23 year old woman from Riga was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox south on County Road 10 when she allegedly failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign and pulled into the lane where 55 year old John Schofield, of Swanton, was driving west on County Road D.
Schofield was driving a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle when, the post says, he attempted to avoid the Riga woman’s vehicle, and struck the driver’s side of the Equinox.
Schofield was transported by Delta Fire and EMS to the University of Toledo Medical Center where he succumbed from his injuries. The post says he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
