Roy Delos Wilson II, age 71, of Adrian, died late Thursday evening, July 25, 2024, at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital. He was born on his dad’s birthday on July 27, 1952, in Adrian, one of eight children of the late Roy Delos and Evelyn Rose (Huff) Wilson. Roy graduated from Sand Creek High School with the Class of 1971, and was a lifelong Adrian resident.

Roy was employed throughout his life at various businesses in Adrian, including the former Hill’s Department Store and Wilson’s Auto Parts, with most of his working career spent as an assemblyman at Dura Corporation. He married the love of his life, Ilo Mae Weiland, on April 21, 1990, at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Together they raised a daughter and enjoyed over 34 years of cherished memories as husband and wife.

Roy was a member of Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church until its closure, and has been involved with the Salvation Army Corps in Adrian since. He enjoyed computer technology, watching WWE wrestling, rooting for Chase Elliott in NASCAR, and frequent visits to Portage Lake. He cherished his relationship with his best friend, Tony Tursak, and kept in constant contact with him. He is remembered as a good father and provider with a pleasant sense of humor. He was also skilled in the kitchen and was renowned for his famous mac and cheese as well as his Christmas cookies gifted during the holidays. He will be sorely missed by his family.

In addition to his wife, Ilo, Roy is survived by his daughter, Evelyn Wilson of Adrian; four siblings, Christine Cools of AZ, Timothy (Sue) Wilson of Tecumseh, Randy (Mary) Wilson of Adrian, and Rebecca McMordie (Mike VanBrunt) of Onsted; brother-in-law, Keith Stutzman (Brenda Heimerdinger) of Britton; sisters-in-law, Emily (Wayne) Walworth of Adrian and Linda (Dean) Hurd of Ypsilanti; longtime family friend, Kim Gerber of Adrian; his cat, Patsy; and his Beagle dog, Cooper. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by three siblings, Sharon Knisel, Cinderella Stutzman, and Debra Wilcox; his mother-in-law, Delores Weiland; and step siblings-in-law, Noel Weiland Jr., Gert Olsen and Joe Olsen.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Roy will be held at the Salvation Army in Adrian on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
