Donald Franklin and Sharon Louise Scott, ages 82 and 85, passed away unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in Tecumseh Township. Donald was born March 16, 1939, in Monroe, Michigan to the late Gordon and Celia (Beamish) Scott. Sharon was born June 14, 1942, in Saline, Michigan to the late Evertt Eggert. and Lorraine (Barnhart) Townend. On August 26, 1961, Donald married the love of his life, Sharon Eggert, in Milan, Michigan and they celebrated 63 wonderful years of their love together.
After graduating from high school, Don- enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1957. He proudly served his country for six years before being honorably discharged in 1963. Upon being discharged from the Marines, he began a long career as a truck driver, retiring from Yellow Freight. In his free time, Don (affectionately known as Butch or Papa) could usually be found completing word search puzzles. He enjoyed being outside and spending time with his family and friends.
Sharon made her career in accounts receivable, retiring from Humantech in Ann Arbor, Mi. When she wasn’t working, Sharon enjoyed playing games and cards with her girlfriends and cooking and baking for her family. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She loved more than anything spending time with family.
To cherish their memory, Don and Sharon leave their children, Mike (Tracy) Scott and Cheryl (Robert) LaDouceur, and grandchildren, Dakota LaDouceur, Chase Scott, and Preston Scott. Donald is survived by his brothers, Robert (Pat) Scott and Randy (Karen) Scott. Sharon is survived by her brothers, Eric Townsend and Lee (Connie) Eggert, and a sister, Michelle (Mark) Amstutz.
In addition to their parents, Don and Sharon are preceded in death by a grandson, Cameron LaDouceur. Don is also preceded in death by his sisters, Robin Scott, Jody Scott, and twin sister Kathy.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh, on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral service for Don and Sharon will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the funeral home with visitation at 10am and the service at 11:00 am.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cameron LaDouceur Memorial Fund.
