ELDON GROWT WHEATON, SR., age 90 years of Manitou Beach, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Hospice Home of Lenawee in Adrian. He was born on January 25, 1934, in Addison, the son of Frank J. and Dorothy M. (Towne) Wheaton.
Eldon married Anna Lee Bishoff on October 5, 1956, at the Fort Leonard Wood Army Base in Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1993. He graduated from Addison High School. Eldon joined the Army and served 6 years between the Army and the National Guard. He worked at Kewaunee Manufacturing in Adrian and for the Adrian Dominican Sisters doing security and maintenance. Eldon enjoyed working in his yard.
Surviving Eldon are his three sons; Alvin (Sherry) Hedrick, Eldon (Deanna) Wheaton, Jr., and Robert Wheaton, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, a brother, Stanley (Nancy) Wheaton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son and a daughter.
Funeral Services for Eldon will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison. Burial will follow at Green’s Lakeside Cemetery in Manitou Beach with full military honors conducted by American Legion Hannan-Colvin Post #180 of Hudson. Visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service.
