Police: Alcohol Believed to be a Factor in Fatal Lenawee County Crash

Clinton Twp., Lenawee County – A 72-year-old man from the Village of Clinton died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night. The Michigan State Police Monroe Post was dispatched to the crash on Tecumseh-Clinton Highway near Allen Road at around 9:30pm.

Preliminary on-scene investigation by the MSP revealed that a silver GMC Terrain was traveling northbound on Tecumseh Clinton Hwy. when it was struck by blue Jeep Wrangler which was traveling southbound.

The driver of the GMC, the 72-year-old from Clinton, was fatally injured in the crash. The passenger of the GMC, a 75-year-old female from Clinton, was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor by Survival Flight where she remains in critical condition. The driver of the Jeep, a 38-year-old female from Tecumseh, cooperated with the investigation and was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor with minor injuries.

Tecumseh Clinton Hwy. near Allen Rd. was shut down for several hours while troopers conducted an on-scene investigation of the crash. At this time, the MSP believes alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, the Village of Clinton Police Department, Tecumseh Police Department, Tecumseh Fire Department, Clinton Township Fire Department, Lenawee Community Ambulance, Huron Valley Ambulance, and
University of Michigan Survival Flight.

This incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police Monroe Post and anyone having information about the incident is asked to contact Trooper Cooper Roberts at 734-242-3500.
