Kevin Joeseph King, 59, passed away on August 12, 2024, after a long, valiant battle with cancer. His strength, devotion to his family and the many prayers said on his behalf supported him in his battle and ultimately gave him peace.
Kevin was born in Tecumseh to the late Norman “Pete” and Janet King. Kevin received his Father’s work ethics and his Mother’s kindness. Kevin was a hard worker and put everyone’s needs in front of his own.
Kevin graduated from Tecumseh High School and Ferris State College. While attending college, he worked for his “2nd father”, Dick Whelan at the local John Deere Dealership, working his way up to Store Manager and head Agriculture Salesman. A starter job that ended up being a 31-year career. Kevin then moved to Lenawee Fuels as their Salesman and Head of Maintenance.
Kevin’s partner in life was Lisa Hutchinson. They enjoyed doing everything together from cutting down 30 trees and creating a beautiful garden in its place to golfing, bowling, fishing, gambling, floating in the pool, spending time at Dick’s cottage and enjoying time with family and friends. They were not only partners, but also best friends. Lisa prayed for a partner who was kind, goodhearted and someone that would make her laugh every day. She got that and so much more in Kevin!
Kevin had one son, Kevin King, Jr (Britney Martin). They worked side by side at both John Deere and Lenawee Fuels. Junior not only looks like his father, but he inherited the best parts of Kevin, having a big, kind heart as well as a great sense of humor. They were Father and Son, but most of all they were best friends that could always count on each other. A friend of Junior’s, Will Webb, had been part of the family for over 20 years and was like a son to Kevin.
Kevin had one daughter, Kendra (Thomas) Siegrist. Kendra had her Father wrapped around her finger since the day she was born and she knew it. She was a Daddy’s girl and Kevin did everything to keep her safe. He knew her every move and thought, she could not get away with anything!
From Kendra and Thomas came along Kevin’s Grandchild, Milo. Kevin enjoyed spending time with Milo who is such a joy to be around, rarely crying and always having a smile and dimples on his face for his Papa!
Kevin had one brother, Eric (Eve) King and one Sister, Tracy (Mark) Duncan. They all poked fun at one another, but they all knew how much they loved one another. His Nieces and Nephews included Kenneth (Stephanie) Bolton, Lael and Adeline King and Hannah Duncan.
Kevin also had many “Out-Laws” in the LaVoy family that he loved and was grateful they accepted him as one of the crew.
Kevin was the type of person who enjoyed having a drink with you, would make you smile and laugh out loud, he always had a way to make you feel good about yourself. He loved being a “helper” to his co-workers (if you worked with Kevin, you know what that means). He was a great Partner, Father, Brother, Uncle, Papa, Co-Worker, Salesman and will be terribly missed by everyone who came in contact with him.
Kevin is preceded in death by his Parents Norman “Pete” and Janet King, Dick and Shirley Whelan and Brother-In-Law Frank LaVoy.
