Rose Marie Hoag, age 61, of Fayette, died early Monday morning, August 12, 2024, at Ayden Healthcare in Wauseon, after years of ailing health. She was born March 5, 1963, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian to the late Richard and Ruth Marie (Eichenberg) Deakins. At age 12, following a tragic automobile accident that took the life of her mother and a brother, she was lovingly adopted by the family of Jerry and Mary Ann (Wulff) Hoffman of Morenci, MI.
Rose lived her early life in Adrian, and she was a 1982 graduate of Berean Baptist Academy. For many years she was employed with Adrian Public Schools in various cafeterias as a lunchroom supervisor. She was a longtime member of the Morenci Bible Fellowship, before recently attending the Fayette Church of the Nazarene. Rose first met Richard Charles Hoag of Delta on social media, and she invited him to meet her personally over a simple meal of chili and coffee. The two instantly bonded and married on June 30, 2018, at Canandaigua Church.
A lover of the outdoors, Rose enjoyed fishing, camping, and taking walks everywhere she wanted to go. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and had the biggest heart for all animals, taking in various strays as pets over the years. She will forever be remembered for her loving and caring ways, her genuine companionship as a friend, and her selfless desire to help anyone in need.
Surviving in addition to her husband of six years, Richard, is her daughter, Valerie Hoffman at home; four brothers, Jeffrey Hoffman of Fairlawn, VA, Daniel (Tonia) Hoffman of Morenci, Michael (Cynthia) Hoffman of Morenci, and Dick (Rose) Hoffman of Adrian; two sisters, Sue (Todd) King of Onondaga, MI and Thelma (Clark) Carncross of Johannesburg, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her birth parents, she was preceded in death by her adopted parents and brothers, Billy and Jimmy.
A memorial service for Rose will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fayette Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
