Ezra Joel McClelland, age 12 of Clinton went into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 30, 2012 in Ann Arbor the son of Deron Robert and Rebekah Lynn (Rhodes) McClelland.
Ezra attended Grace Point Evangelical Free Church in Adrian where he enjoyed AWANA, Sunday School, and the music during worship. He was always welcomed with open arms despite his disabilities and was well loved by the entire church family.
Ezra may not have had many years on this earth but he lived a full life in that short time. He had so many adventures including vacations to Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and of course many trips to Mackinac and the Upper Peninsula. He absolutely loved going on hikes and enjoying the breeze on these trips. He was included in as many activities as possible with his siblings such as library programs and even the Children’s Challenge mud run. As a family they frequently visited the Toledo Zoo, Greenfield Village, and Sauder Village. He was afforded even more experiences through A Kid Again to go to sporting events, museums, zoos, and even make jewelry. And although he could never go to camp alone, North Star Reach family camps were a perfect fit allowing him to go to a sleep away camp. Ezra attended the absolute best school where he was not only taught but given opportunities to explore the world and was so well loved by his teachers and all the others who worked with him.
Ezra loved music and lights. Fireworks were one of the few things that would always get his attention and bring him joy. His face would always turn toward the sun lighting up his beautiful eyelashes – the longest and most beautiful lashes that everyone who saw them had to compliment. Ezra loved music therapy provided through hospice. He would respond well to a great variety of music styles with some of his favorites being Christmas songs and Irish music.
Ezra is survived by his parents, Deron and Rebekah; his siblings, Emmaleigh (Dylan) Pounders of Onsted, Ethan (Kellie) McClelland of Adrian, Olivia (John) Traeger, Ivy McClelland, Anders McClelland, Addison McClelland, Erin McClelland, Alistair McClelland, Ezekiel McClelland, Avonlea McClelland, and Eden McClelland all of Clinton; and paternal grandparents, Darlene Blinn of Lansing. Ezra was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gordon and Bonnie Rhodes and paternal grandfathers, Richard McClelland and Raymond Blinn.
