Eugene “Gene” Earl Knoblauch, age 82, of Ottawa Lake, MI passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born on November 2, 1941 to Earl and Agnes (DeClark) Knoblauch. He graduated from Blissfield High School with the Class of 1960. Gene started dating his future wife, Patricia Petee, after they reconnected at a 20 year high school reunion. They later married on April 11, 1981 in Toledo, OH and have shared 43 years of marriage and Patricia survives him.
Gene was proud to be a hard working farmer and he was happiest when working out in the field. He had faced numerous challenges in his life but never let anything stop him from doing what he loved. When not farming, he enjoyed reading the newspaper and farm magazines, listening to country music and working in his garden. He treasured spending time with his grandkids and one of his last wishes was that he could have had more time to play with them. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and faithfully attended and served regularly until a few years ago when his health challenges kept him primarily at home. Gene’s faith in Christ was central to everything else in his life and the Lord sustained him through the various health trials he experienced in recent years. Gene was a very kind and pleasant man; and his sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Patricia; daughter, Paula (Andrew) Frautschi; grandchildren, Alexandra and Olivia Frautschi; sister, Bonnie Andrews; brother, Robert (Carol) Knoblauch; brother-in-law, Dwayne Fisher, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janet Fisher and Elona Myers and brothers-in-law, Harold Andrews and Russ Myers.
Gene will be laid to rest privately at Riga Cemetery in Riga, MI. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4207 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH, 43623.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund in his memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, in Blissfield, where online condolences and memories may be shared at www.WagleyFuneralHomes.com.
