Area Fire Departments Awarded Grant Funding for Turnout Gear

Adrian, MI – The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity has announced that they have awarded nearly $15 million in grant funds to 187 fire and safety agencies across the state…including several in the listening area.

These funds will be used to purchase an additional set of turnout gear for full-time career firefighters, enhancing their safety and readiness as they serve our communities.

The additional set of gear consists of coats, pants, and boots, and allows full-time firefighters to be equipped with the latest personal protective gear on the market.

The funds are a component of the Fiscal Year 2024 State Budget enhancement grants administered by LEO.

Lenawee County agencies that will receive funding include the City of Adrian (84,000) and Madison Charter Township ($20,550).

Other listening area fire departments are: Ann Arbor Charter Township, Bedford Township, Charter of Ypsilanti, City of Ann Arbor, Flat Rock, Frenchtown Township, Jackson, Monroe City, Napoleon Township, Pittsfield Charter Township, Saline, Summit Township, and the City of Ypsilanti.
