New York Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Ohio Turnpike Near Swanton

Swanton, OH – A 65-year-old New York man died in a single vehicle motorcycle crash on the Ohio turnpike in Fulton County on Monday evening. The Swanton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash, which occurred at 6 p.m. near state Route 66 in Franklin Township, Fulton County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Daniel P. Kirst of Akron, New York was traveling westbound on the Ohio Turnpike. The Harley Davidson changed lanes and lost control, causing the motorcycle to overturn. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. The patrol says that he was not wearing a helmet.
