Merelin L. Young, age 76, of Tecumseh, Michigan, passed away, June 27, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 12, 1948, in Tecumseh, Michigan the son of Merelin A. and Melva B. (Sieler) Young. On February 21, 1970, he married Patricia M. Deer at
Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church, Adrian, Michigan. She survives.
Merelin was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, Class of 1966. He then went on to continue his education at Michigan State University, graduating with a degree in agriculture. Merelin retired from Adrian Mechanical Services in 2011. the During his working years he also engaged in farming. Merelin was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tecumseh, Michigan. He had a deep passion for watching the Detroit Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, and fishing. He cherished moments spent with his family and enjoyed playing cards, as well as attending car shows with his beloved 1966 Mercury Monterey.
In addition to his wife Pat, he is survived by his three children, Timothy (Kim Hoag) Young, Keith (Shannon) Young, Julie (Jeff) Howard; nine grandchildren, Tyler Young, Walker Young, Adison Young, Nathan Young, Nick (Ellie) Howard, Matt (Emily) Howard, Will Howard, Cynthia Hinsey, and Roddy Hinsey; four great grandchildren; Grayson Howard, Asher Howard, Izzy Howard, and Roman Young; and sister, Linda (Ford) Hyder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephews, Chad Steuwe and James Hyder.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tecumseh, MI, with Pastor William Finn officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, MI.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at Purse Martinez Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Michigan and also one hour prior to funeral service Tuesday, on July 2, 2024 at the church.
