
L. Carolyn Phenicie, born on August 14, 1944, in Alabama, returned home to her Heavenly Father on June 29, 2024, at the age of 79.
Carolyn was a devoted homemaker for much of her early life before beginning a long and fulfilling career as a receptionist at Beltone Hearing Aid Center, where she worked for 25 years. She had a deep love for the Detroit Tigers baseball team and spent many joyful hours watching their games. In her younger days, she was an active member of the Early Birds bowling league, where she formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories. Carolyn was a member of Faith Baptist Church for 46 years, where she was known for her unwavering faith and dedication to her church community.
On June 17, 1967, Carolyn married the love of her life, James Phenicie. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on June 19, 1999. Carolyn was also predeceased by her loving parents, Hanie and Elizabeth Cox, her brother Billy T. Cox, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Mark) Ayers, and son Barry (Kristie) Phenicie. Carolyn was a proud grandmother to Reagan, Brooke, and Clay Ayers; Landon, Mikkel, and Cole Gallant; Madison (Dalton) Knapp, and Carter Phenicie, and a beloved great-grandmother to Everett Knapp. Carolyn is survived by her sister Annette Shore of Blairsville, GA, and her brother Johnie Cox of Altus, OK. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Bruce (Lynn) Phenicie, Burton (Marilyn) Phenicie, and her sisters-in-law Betty Bliesner, Beverly Lightfoot, and Ann Cox, along with many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn’s warm spirit, love for her family, and her dedication to those she cared about will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A visitation service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
