Charlene Ann DeMots, age 77, of Adrian, Michigan, died at home Sunday evening, June 23, 2024, with her loving husband by her side.
Charlene was born on January 26, 1947, in Holland, Michigan, to Leroy Bloomfield, D.C. and Phoebe (Pullen) Bloomfield, PhD. Charlene was their only child. She grew to be a beautifully vibrant and talented young woman with sparkling eyes and an all-embracing personality. Her mother, who had earned her PhD in education and was a school administrator, tragically died when Charlene was 15 and her father died when she was 18. Without family support she earned her BA Degree from Hope College and DePaul University in Chicago. She had a long and very rewarding career in home construction, land development and real estate. She enjoyed finding just the right home for all her customers.
Charlene was the mother of three children, Brian, Brad and Shannon, who have given her beloved grand and great grandchildren.
In 2016, Charlene married William Demots. They had been childhood playmates as well as high school and college sweethearts, but with the complication of the death of her parents, they lost contact for 50 years. After Bill suffered a personal tragedy, she sent him a sympathy card with an offer of help if needed. The card led to a three-hour phone call and eight years of wonderful marriage to this exceptional woman. The family is grateful for her life. She leaves a great void which cannot be filled.
Cremation will take place. There will be a visitation Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Wagley Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A memorial celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church of Adrian with Rev. Linda Farley officiating.
