Adrian, MI – The declaration of death trial for the three missing Skelton brothers will move forward in Lenawee County Probate Court after Thursdays final pretrial.
There was a petition filed by Tanya Zuvers, the mother of Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner, to have her children legally declared dead after being missing from their Morenci area home since November of 2010.

Investigators say on the night after Thanksgiving in 2010, the boys’ father, John Skelton, took the boys in the midst of a divorce and custody battle with their mother, Tanya Zuvers. Police say in those early morning hours, John’s phone could be tracked leaving his Morenci home, traveling 25 miles southwest into Ohio, and returning.
John Skelton (below, right) was charged with unlawful imprisonment of his sons, and is currently in jail. A representative with the Michigan Department of Corrections told WLEN News in September, 2023 that he will remain incarcerated with the MDOC until his maximum sentence is completed in November of 2025.

Tanya Zuvers was in court with her legal representation, Burke Castleberry Thursday in Adrian. John Skelton did not appear via Zoom. The Evidentiary Hearing for the Declaration of Deaths is scheduled for July 29th, 30th, and August 5th and 6th.
Zuvers and Castleberry declined to comment to WLEN News. If anyone has information about the disappearance or whereabouts of Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner Skelton, contact the Michigan State Police.
