Louella Ruth Misiak, age 78, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away Thursday evening, May 16, 2024, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on June 23, 1945, in Alpena, MI, the oldest child of John Clarence and Naomi Myrtia (Powell) McCoy.
Louella lived her early life in Alpena, with her parents and younger brothers, Jack and Chris, and graduated from Alpena High School in the Class of 1963. She married fellow Alpena native Michael Arthur Misiak on June 19, 1965. In 1968, they settled in the Ypsilanti area with their young growing family, Kimberly & Michael adding Lisa in 1975. They eventually settled in Tecumseh, MI, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Louella was a natural caregiver, embarking on a nursing career earning her LPN credentials from Northwestern Michigan College in 1965. While caring for her young family and working nights full-time in the Labor & Delivery department, she went back to school becoming a Registered Nurse, and ultimately graduated from Ferris State University with a BS in Nursing in 1999. Lou welcomed and cared for many new additions to Tecumseh families in her 20 years at Herrick Hospital before she transferred to ProMedica Bixby Hospital in Adrian. There she worked for the remainder of her career as a night supervisor, earning many awards and recognitions for outstanding service.
Lou is remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. Her family and close friends knew they were cherished and deeply loved every day. She was an avid reader and movie buff. She enjoyed intricate cross-stitch projects and beautiful flower gardens. Above all, she had a passion for spending time with family and friends, especially when that included going out to eat. Lou loved taking numerous family trips to Alpena, MI; Atlanta, GA; Hilton Head Island, SC; and the beloved Doctor’s Club Hunting Camp in northern Michigan. In later years, when her eyesight limited her endeavors, she took up building intricate doll houses, and adored her precious Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Maggie and McKenzie.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband of nearly 59 years, Michael, three children, Kimberly (Joseph) Cavallaro of Atlanta, GA, Michael John Misiak (Michelle Taylor) of Saline, MI, and Lisa (Brett) Hunsaker of Atlanta, GA; her brothers, Jack (Joyce) McCoy and Christopher (Julie) McCoy, both of Alpena; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin, Michael Douglas, Mikayla, and Holly; and numerous extended family and beloved in-laws.
