Adrian, MI – The 180th Fighter Wing conducted another functional check flight on Thursday, with many in the WLEN listening area able to hear…and some even feel…the sonic boom from the plane.

The plane, flown from the National Guard Base in Swanton, Ohio, also conducted a functional check flight on Wednesday afternoon.

While the actual flight took place around the Bowling Green and Toledo, Ohio area, residents across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan may have heard a sonic boom once supersonic speeds were reached.

A functional check flight is conducted following heavy maintenance on the aircraft, putting the aircraft through strenuous testing and maneuvers to ensure all systems of the aircraft function properly and ensuring mission readiness, before putting the aircraft back into operational rotation.
