Melvin Sayler, age 77, of Blissfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 20, 1946, in Adrian to the late Merle and Mildred Sayler.
Melvin grew up on the family farm on Thompson Highway where he found his love of gardening. After graduating from Blissfield High School in 1964, Melvin hired into Tecumseh Products where he worked for 44 years until their closing and was able to retire in 2008.
Melvin married the love of his life, Judith (Judy) Laux, on June 24, 1967. They would have celebrated 57 years together this month.
Melvin enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. In his younger years, Melvin enjoyed going to the roller rink and that is where he met the love of his life, Judy. He was known to hide in the trunk of his best friend’s car to sneak to see her. He was known for taking his faithful companion, Daisy, for daily walks and golf cart rides and never missed his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Melvin and Judy moved to Coach Light Estates in 2006 where he started his own mowing business in the park, making many special friends. Melvin mowed up until his illness that took him from us all.
To cherish his memory, Melvin leaves his loving wife, Judy; two daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Blevins of Sevierville, Tennessee and Cynthia (Cindy) Fischer of Adrian; five grandchildren: Ashley Hart, Joshua Sayler, Collin (Kylee) Blevins, Christian Fischer, and Katie Fischer; two great grandchildren: Julia and AJ Hart; three sisters, Minetta Sayler, Evelyn Dibello, and Marcia Fick; a special cousin, Marilyn Sayler; and his faithful companion, Daisy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Mildred Sayler, and his sister, Colleen Wisner. He will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Lenawee for their compassionate care and friend Pam Caldwell for all her help during a difficult time.
