
Cambridge Twp., MI – An 82-year-old male motorcycle driver died when a car crashed into him head-on near the intersection of US-12 and M-124 in Lenawee County. The Cambridge Township Police Department says that the crash occurred just after 4 pm Monday in the Irish Hills.
According to the CTPD, the man was driving a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle on US-12 near the intersection, when he was struck by a 2000 Jeep driven by a 55-year-old Tipton man. Police say that the Jeep crossed the centerline. The 82-year-old man from Commerce Township was pronounced deceased at the scene. No injuries were reported for the driver of the Jeep.
The Cambridge Township Police says that the driver of the Jeep was wearing his seatbelt, and the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time. The crash remains under investigation. CTPD were assisted by the Cambridge Township Fire Department, Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, Lenawee Community Ambulance, and the Michigan State Police.
This crash was the second motorcycle/car fatality in Lenawee County this week. A crash Sunday afternoon in Dover Township resulted in life-threatening injuries for a 54-year-old male driver and 50-year-old female passenger. The man passed away on Monday.
