Adrian, MI – City of Adrian homes would be subject to a Point of Sale Inspection, if a pending ordinance is approved by the City Commission.
Local realtors have strongly voiced their opposition to the ordinance, saying that the current blight ordinance and rental inspection ordinance should be more than enough to clean up blight in the City without imposing unnecessary and costly mandates, and that the proposed changes are governmental overreach.
The changes could be approved as early as the next regular meeting. Here is WLEN News Director Ian Wendt and Adrian City Administrator, Greg Elliott…
The proposed ordinance says, in part: “Improve the livability of City of Adrian neighborhoods and to further the maintenance, preservation, improvement, and development of housing for all persons regardless of income level; by bringing them into conformity with minimum standards of the International Property Maintenance Code as adopted by the City of Adrian and other applicable provisions of the Adrian Code.”
