Washington, D.C. – Senator Debbie Stabenow released a statement on President Joe Biden’s announcement to increase tariffs on Chinese imports, including electric vehicles and semiconductor chips. Senator Stabenow joined the President at his announcement at the White House earlier this week. Her statement reads, in part:
“Chinese electric vehicles are heavily subsidized by the Chinese government. With a level playing field, our auto industry and our workers can compete with anyone and win. But that means competing with companies, not countries. Michigan has seen the impacts of China’s unfair trade practices on our jobs. I appreciate the President’s leadership and strong support for our shared goal of ensuring that the electric vehicle transition is led by American workers.”
