Morenci Issues Boil Water Advisory for Residents West of Bean Creek

attention-33

Morenci, MI – The City of Morenci Department of Public Works Water Operator-in-Charge has issued a boil water advisory until further notice for all residents in City limits who live west of Bean Creek.

Heather Sarnac, Community & Economic Development Director with the City, said in an email to WLEN News that a water force main on W. Chestnut St. has been compromised causing a loss of water supply. The DPW is currently working on the repair.

Drinking and cooking water should be boiled for at least five minutes before it is used. The City says that if the water is used for drinking purposes, it should be allowed to cool in a sealed container. For those with electric water heaters, it is recommended to turn off the power during this time.

Bacterial testing of the system will be completed according to EGLE quality standards prior to lifting the boil water order. Contact City Hall at (517)458-6828 with any questions.
