Adrian, MI – The preliminary examination got underway in Lenawee County District Court Wednesday for Dale Warner…who is charged with killing his wife, Dee. A preliminary exam is a proceeding after a criminal complaint has been filed, to determine whether there is enough evidence to go to trial.

The Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Dale with Open Murder and Evidence tampering. He was arrested in November, 2023. Five witnesses took the stand Wednesday in front of Jude Anna Frushour…who was assigned to the case out of Washtenaw County.

Brian Bush, Dale and Dee’s former son-in-law, was the first to the stand. He performed various tasks on their farm. He said he purchased a GPS for Dale and Dee’s Hummer, through his Amazon account… for diagnostics and tracking the Hummer that Dee drove. He testified that it was at the request of Dale. Bush said that it was later found on the vehicle. He said that he set up an app on his phone to check on the GPS device, at the request of Dale.

Kyle Wagner, an IT contractor for the farm, was the next to testify. The prosecution asked him about the cameras and security system at the farm on Munger Road. He talked about Dale asking for passwords to be changed for the security system in late April, 2021. He completed that task, but did not agree with Dale’s request to clone Dee’s phone…as he did not feel comfortable doing so.

Amy Alexander, who was engaged to Dale’s brother, was the third to take the stand. Alexander, who organized the ‘Justice for Dee’ Facebook page, said that he had been close with Dee for many years. WLEN News will have more on her testimony, and the testimony of others, in future stories.

Dee has not been seen or heard from since April 24th, 2021. Her body has not been found. Lenawee County Probate Court Judge Catherine Sala ruled that she is legally dead. It was revealed at the beginning of Wednesday’s Examination that that ruling is to be appealed.
