ASO Rite of Spring Concert This Friday

Adrian, MI – The epic ‘Rite of Spring,’ one of the most influential musical pieces of the 20th century, will conclude the Adrian Symphony Orchestra’s exploration of Stravinsky’s work  later this week.

American composer Valerie Coleman’s ‘Umoja Anthem of Unity’ opens the concert, exploring the meaning of freedom and unity.

Award-winning pianist Dominic Cheli returns to Adrian for Rachmaninoff’s roller-coaster of a concerto, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

The ASO is reminding patrons to bring your Season of Stravinsky punch card to make sure you are included in the conclusion to their season-long collection of punches and a drawing.

Classical Conversations with Music Director, Bruce Kiesling, begins at 6:40 PM. This short talk will tell the stories behind the music featured in the concert program.

The concert will be Friday, May 3rd at 7:30pm at Dawson Auditorium on the Adrian College campus. Tickets are available at adriansymphony.org.
