Lenawee County, MI – It is with great sadness that Lenawee ISD announced the loss of David Pray, a cherished member of their Board of Education. Pray, who passed away on April 18th, was a champion for public education, having served on the Lenawee ISD Board since 2016.

“Lenawee ISD was fortunate to have Mr. Pray’s thoughtful leadership and advocacy for the past several years,” said Superintendent Mark Haag. “Whether it was working to improve countywide academic achievement, expand special education services to meet growing needs, or create new career and technical education opportunities, Mr. Pray was a steadying force and passionate about quality education for all students.”

“David was an important voice on the Lenawee ISD Board,” said Richard Germond, Lenawee ISD Board of Education President. “He provided a wealth of experience and knowledge, particularly in budget and policy discussions, ensuring the District’s decisions always aligned with best practices and local student needs. I will be forever grateful for having had the privilege of serving alongside him.”

Pray served as a beacon of wisdom and dedication within the broader school community for more than 50 years, contributing his time, expertise, and passion to benefit all students. He spent the majority of his career at Clinton Community Schools as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. Following his retirement, he was also hired in interim superintendent roles at Clinton and Blissfield Community Schools during various periods of transition.

Lenawee ISD extends heartfelt condolences to Pray’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
