Adrian, MI – A veteran teacher with 14 years of experience at Adrian Public Schools is going to the Board of Education for approval to become Prairie Elementary’s new Dean of Students.

The Interview Committee has recommended Callie Yatzek for the administrator position. The school board will consider her approval at its meeting on May 20th. Upon approval, Yatzek will begin her role as administrator for the 2024-2025 school year, succeeding Principal Carl Lewandowski, who will retire at the end of this school year.

Superintendent Nate Parker stated, “During the interview, Mrs. Yatzek articulated a clear and compelling vision for the future of Prairie Elementary. Her strategic leadership approach and dedication to fostering a thriving school environment stood out. We are confident that her vision will significantly contribute to Prairie Elementary’s continuous improvement and development.”

While at APS, Yatzek has served on numerous leadership teams and committees, such as the Positive Behavior and Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Building Leadership Team, school improvement committees, and District Curriculum Committees.

“Board Trustee Anna Solis-Gautz, who served on the interview committee, described Mrs. Yatzek as ‘an enthusiastic, seasoned educator who will integrate smoothly as Prairie’s new administrator and provide strong leadership.'”

“I am both honored and thrilled to serve as the next leader of Prairie Elementary, working alongside our dedicated students, staff, parents, and the broader community,” shared Yatzek. “As I step into this leadership role, I will commit to ensuring that every student can learn and thrive in a safe and welcoming environment. Having been a part of the Prairie community, this school is very much my home, and I am eager to lead Prairie as we make positive strides into the future.”
