Adrian, MI – After approving expenditures for license plate reading cameras at major intersections in the City of Adrian over a year ago, the Police Department is only currently able to use two out of the ten cameras promised in the deal.

Police Chief Vince Emrick updated the City Commission on the status of the installation of Flock Cameras at Monday night’s study session. He said that the delays with installing the remaining eight cameras is due to waiting for approval from the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Emrick told WLEN News that the department has been told the same thing for months now…that approval is coming soon…

The contract signed in 2023 will cost the city $3,000 per camera per year for the service. Flock cameras are utilized across the country by police agencies to capture images of license plates to assist them with investigations.
