
Monroe County, MI – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported shooting at a residence in the 5000 block of North Stony Creek Road over the weekend.
Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting that the shooting occurred on Saturday shortly after 1pm. Central Dispatch received a call from a victim reporting he had been shot at by a subject from a residence.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and gathered from the victim that the suspect fired a shotgun at him after a brief argument in the yard. The victim fled the area and met with deputies nearby the location. At the time it was believed the suspect was still inside the residence.
Deputies established a perimeter and a drone was utilized for surveillance of the residence. Monroe County Special Response Team was activated and responded to the scene.
A search warrant was obtained, and was executed. The suspect, a 38-year-old Monroe man was taken into custody and lodged at the Monroe County Jail for felonious assault. The case remains under investigation.
