Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Solid Waste-Recycling department issued tips about disposing of fluorescent bulbs, and the upcoming Spring Clean Up Day.

In a blog post online, they said that:

  • The Lenawee County Building & Grounds Department will crush and dispose of fluorescent tube light bulbs for a nominal fee from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on weekdays. They only take the straight, fluorescent long tubes.
  • Recycle Ann Arbor collects the compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • Home Depot in Jackson and Ypsilanti collects the compact fluorescent bulbs.

If you can hold onto your lights and batteries for a few weeks, there will be a Spring Cleanup Day on May 11th. Wacker Chemical, in Adrian, will be collecting household hazardous waste that day from 8am-noon.

Battery Wholesale will be out at the Lenawee County Fairgrounds the same day from 8 a.m.-noon collecting batteries…for a nominal fee. The Fairgrounds will also be the place to bring scrap tires, heavy packing foam, and shipping supplies on May 11th. For more information, go to the Solid Waste page on the Lenawee County website.
