Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Personnel Ways & Means Committee met Tuesday morning in Adrian and discusses compensation for elected officials. They approved recommendations to send for a final vote before the full Board of Commissioners at tomorrow’s meeting (at 1:30pm). County Administrator Kim Murphy talked about how the recent Wage and Compensation Study tied-in to their recommendation today…

The recommendations adjust the following elected official’s annual salaries as follows: Board Chairman – $13,500 (from $10,000); Commissioners – $12,000 (from $8,000); Sheriff – $113,000 (from $110,519.50); Clerk – $84,500 (from $77,183.34); Treasurer – $84,500 (from $77,183.34); Register of Deeds – $78,500 (from $73,093.63). No changes are required for the Prosecutor or Drain Commissioner positions. In addition, each position is to receive the annual COLA adjustment beginning January 1, 2026 and every year thereafter.

Increases to positions that are not the Board Chairman and Commissioners passed by unanimous vote. Compensation increases for those two positions was approved by a 5-4 vote (David Stimpson, Dawn Bales, Karol “KZ” Bolton, Terry Collins, and Ralph Tillotson votes ‘yes.’ Dustin Krasny, Kevon Martis, Jim Van Doren, and Nancy Jenkins-Arno voted ‘no’). A sticking point for some was the topic of insurance for Commissioners. The full discussion can be viewed on Lenawee TV by clicking here: https://www.paragonsportstv.com/lenawee-county-meetings/
