Lansing, MI – State Senator Joe Bellino was one of the key lawmakers recognized by the Small Business Association of Michigan at its Leadership Council winter event.

He was highlighted for his work last year to reduce the tax burden on small businesses, promote economic growth through redevelopment of brownfield sites, and oppose other measures that stifle the relationship between employers and employees.

SBAM reported that Bellino and other recognized lawmakers had a 100% voting record on the matters of most importance to small business owners, including:

  • Supporting bills that would have permanently lowered Michigan’s income tax rate and bills to exempt delivery and installation from Michigan sales and use taxes.
  • Opposing measures to repeal Michigan’s Right to Work law and reinstatement of prevailing wage laws.
  • Supporting bills promoting economic growth in Michigan through redevelopment of brownfield sites.
  • Rallying against bills implementing new energy mandates and increasing rates for small businesses and other ratepayers.
