Peter Stewart, Long-Time Local Broadcaster/Actor, Passes Away at 62

Adrian, MI – A memorial service and visitation for long-time local broadcaster and actor in Lenawee County, Peter Stewart, will take place Saturday. Our friend and co-worker Peter ‘Pete’ Stewart passed away at the age of 62 on Monday, February 19th in Adrian.

Pete attended Adrian Public Schools. where he was on the high school swim team, a member of the physics club and a straight A student. Pete graduated from AHS in 1979 and went on to Albion College where he earned his Bachelor of Art degree in theatre.

Pete started performing at the Croswell Opera House when he was 6 years old, taking a role in the Wizard of Oz production. The acting bug stayed with him his whole life, and for over 50 years Pete entertained audiences with his singing and acting on stage.

Besides performing on stage, Pete was involved with local radio stations for over 25 years. He filled many roles on 103.9fm WLEN, 1490am WABJ and 95.3fm WQTE. Pete was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan, loved to water ski and enjoyed looking at classic cars. Pete’s easy-going personality and sense of humor will be missed by many in Lenawee County.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at noon at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. There will be a memorial visitation from 11am until the service begins at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Croswell Opera House in honor of Peter.

There will be an on-air tribute for Pete Friday, March 1st on 103.9fm WLEN from 3-5pm. Call-in and share your favorite memories of Pete.
