Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian provided an update on the construction of the South Main Street Pedestrian Tunnel. Administrator Greg Elliott said in his weekly email update that Lenawee County Circuit Court Judge Michael Olsaver, “…cleared one of the last hurdles to the construction of the South Main Street Pedestrian Tunnel when he found that the City’s acquisition of certain property adjacent to the tunnel entrance was necessary for the project.”

Elliott says that construction of the tunnel is expected to commence this year. The tunnel will create a safe way for trail users to cross South Main Street. The property that the City has acquired on either side of the tunnel openings will be graded and terraced to create points of entry to the crossing.
