Adrian, MI – Adrian High School theater students are busy preparing for a new initiative at Adrian Public Schools… a One Act Festival.

AHS will host the festival on Saturday, February 17th in the Performing Arts Center at 2 PM. The festival will feature seven One Act plays. As the name suggests, these plays are dramatic works of art that tell a story in one act, within 20-30 minutes.

Any interested juniors and seniors were able to apply for the program, and seven directors were chosen. The One Act Festival affords students a full director experience: running auditions, making difficult casting choices, creating a rehearsal schedule, and bringing their chosen show to life.

Emily Gifford, APS Theater Manager, who also serves as Advisor for the One Act Festival, said: “It is rare for students to have this level of in-depth experience before college. Like all of the challenging things we do in our theater program, I am confident this will bolster their already unique and extensive skill sets.”

The One Act Festival performances are open to the public. Admission is free, with donations for the drama program accepted at the door.
