Two-Vehicle Crash Kills Clayton Man at US-223/Division Street Intersection Monday Morning

Adrian, MI – A 30-year-old male from Clayton died from injuries sustained in a car vs. semi truck/trailer crash Monday morning in Adrian.

At approximately 8:15 am, Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of US 223 and Division Street.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a 2022 Kenworth Semi Truck, driven by a 64 year old male from Jackson was traveling westbound on US 223 approaching the intersection of Division Street. A 2007 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 35 year old female from Clayton was attempting to turn left (north) onto Division Street from eastbound US 223. The Kenworth Semi Truck struck the passenger side of the impala as it attempted to turn left.

A front seat passenger in the impala, a 30 year old male from Clayton was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the impala was taken to Promedica Toledo with serious injuries. The driver of the Kenworth Semi Truck was taken to ProMedica Hickman Hospital with minor injuries. Their current conditions are unknown. All occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Names of the subjects involved are being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.

The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and the crash is under further investigation. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Madison Twp Police Department, Adrian Police Department, Madison Twp Fire Department, Adrian Fire Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
