Adrian, MI – Ellsworth Lee Stout, who spent 25 years of his career in the insurance industry at Gleaner Life Insurance in Adrian… has passed away at the age of 81. Ellsworth was born in Detroit, and his family moved to Lenawee County in 1945. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1959, and went on to attend Michigan State University.
He served his country in the National Guard and Army Reserve from 1964 to 1974 during the Vietnam era, discharged honorably as First Lieutenant. Ellsworth’s career in insurance covered several decades. He worked at John Hancock in Adrian, Monroe, and Birmingham, and Solon, Ohio for 20 years before moving to Gleaner Life Insurance in Adrian in 1987.
Ellsworth filled many roles during his 25 years at Gleaner, including the title of President and CEO for his last 5 years, before retiring in 2012.
Visitation for Ellsworth Stout will take place Friday, January 12th, at Wagley Funeral Home, in Adrian. A funeral mass will be held on January 13th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary’s Campus in Adrian.
