Raisin Twp., MI – Around 70 Raisin Township residents and community members attended a Special Meeting of the Planning Commission Thursday evening. The purpose of the meeting was to educate the Commission and the public on aggregate extraction… sand and gravel pits.

Mike Wilczynski, with Pangea Environmental, LLC… facilitated the presentation. There was an application submitted for a sand and gravel pit at the northwest corner of Occidental Highway and Gady Road last year.

The Planning Commission tabled the application, and told the company to fill out more information. Wilczynski highlighted resident concerns about gravel pits…including water issues, noise, dust, traffic, vibrations, property values, future land use and loss of farmland.

WLEN News talked with the Raisin Township Planning Commission Chairman Marcus McNamara after the meeting. We will hear from him in a future story.
