Adrian House Fire Injures One

Adrian, MI – A four-plex house at 618 Dennis Street, in Adrian, caught fire Tuesday evening, injuring one occupant. City of Adrian Fire Chief Aric Massingill told WLEN News that the fire possibly started in the kitchen area around 7pm, but he could not confirm the origin….

 

Wednesday morning, the AFD reported that burn victim was outside of the residence, but it was unknown if there were any other residents in the structure. The first fire units arrived at 7:15pm and found heavy fire conditions on the first floor.

EMT’s and Paramedics from AFD immediately began treating the burn victim as AFD and Madison Township Fire Department firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack. Additional firefighters including those from Adrian Township Fire Department searched the other 3 apartments to ensure there were no other victims.

The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes and the adult victim was transported to the hospital by AFD. Extensive overhaul was performed with the assistance of Raisin Township Fire Department. Fire damage was contained to the first-floor apartment and exterior of the structure with smoke and heat damage throughout.

The last fire units cleared the scene at 9:50pm. Initial investigation found the fire did not appear to be malicious in nature, but a definitive cause has not been determined.

Adrian Fire Department was assisted by Adrian Police Department, Adrian Township, Madison Township, and Raisin Township Fire Departments as well as Citizens Gas and Consumers Energy. Bedford Township Fire Department stood by in Blissfield with an ambulance while units were committed to the scene.
