Adrian, MI – A report of ‘shots fired’ at Adrian College late last week is being investigated as a ‘swatting’ incident. At approximately 6:15pm Thursday night, Lenawee County Dispatch received a report of a shooting at Adrian College.
AC Campus Safety, the Adrian Police Department, and the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department responded and searched he reported location of the shooting. No victims were located and no one reported hearing or seeing anything related to a shooting.
Several other on-campus locations were searched. The report of a shooting was a false call. It was determined that the call came from a subject in another state. The motive for the false call appears to be a revenge scenario for a relationship break-up.
The investigation has been turned over to Adrian Police Department detectives, and is being investigated as a ‘swatting’ incident.
The Adrian Police Department was assisted by Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Township Police Department, The Michigan State Police, and the Adrian Fire Department.
