Adrian, MI – WLEN News continues our coverage of the 2023-24 Fiscal Year Draft Budget for Lenawee County. In past meetings, the Board of Commissioners have shown interest in funding upgrades to County buildings…including the Rex B. Martin Judicial Building and Maurice Spears Campus. Both buildings, in Adrian, have funding allocated towards them.
Today, the focus will be on the Maurice Spears Campus… a detention and treatment facility located on 35 acres of land. Lenawee County Administrator Kim Murphy talked to WLEN News about changes in juvenile justice, and the steps Lenawee County is looking to take to address them at their campus…
Murphy said that the Commissioners have already allocated several million dollars towards updates and upgrades to Maurice Spears…
The draft 2023-24 budget did not include the Maurice Spears Campus, but future budgets could be used to pay-off future bonds.
