Adrian, MI – The Ben and Connie Negron HOLA Fund has announced that there will be a dedication ceremony to officially announce the honorary naming of a section of Gulf Street in Adrian as Cesar E. Chavez Drive.

The Gulf Street segment between Siena Heights Drive and Beecher Street will now be named in honor of the late civil rights and labor movement activist.

The event will pay special attention to honoring people who have been champions in the support of the work of Cesar Chavez and the migrant farm workers for several decades.

Chavez founded the United Farm Workers union and organized peaceful strikes and boycotts to demand better pay and working conditions for agricultural laborers. His nonviolent activism earned improved rights and recognition for some of the most vulnerable members of the workforce.

A dedication ceremony will be held this Thursday at 4 pm on the corner of Beecher and Gulf streets.
