Tecumseh, MI – The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education has voted, unanimously, to close the Tecumseh Community Pool for the foreseeable future.
The decision by the Board was made in the utmost interest of safety, and it follows a thorough inspection conducted by the engineering firm SME, which revealed some structural issues.
While a primary concern is when winter arrives and the additional weight the roof could see with snow and ice, the Board felt it was best to close now.
While the pool is closed, it will be inaccessible to the public while essential maintenance and evaluations are conducted.
Tecumseh Public Schools understands the inconvenience this closure may cause for those who have enrolled in swim lessons or the Tigersharks program. To address this, they will be issuing refunds to all affected participants.
The Athletics Department is currently in the process of rescheduling previously planned meets at Tecumseh Community Pool.
TPS says that they will keep the community informed of any updates regarding the pool’s status.
