
Greenville, Illinois – The Adrian College football team’s explosive third quarter was not enough Saturday afternoon, dropping their final non-conference game of the season to Greenville University, 45-35.
Greenville lead 10-0 over Adrian after a defensive battle to start the contest…scoring a first quarter touchdown and second quarter field goal. With 2:50 to go in the half, Andrew Thomas had an interception which was returned for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs on the board and head into the break trailing 10-7.
Adrian scored to open the second half on a 5-yard touchdown rush from Tejay Moore, which was quickly followed by another pick-6 from Ryker Bidwell to put Adrian up 21-10. Greenville answered back with a touchdown, but on the next Bulldog drive, Anthony Greear ran in a touchdown from 49 yards out to lead 28-17. Greenville scored back-to-back touchdowns to regain the lead 31-28 entering the fourth quarter.
Moore put Adrian ahead after his second touchdown of the game to lead 35-31. Greenville responded with a pair of touchdowns to win 45-35.
Mark Lopez and Brady Raymond combined for 109 yards passing on 22 attempts. Greear led the way with 87 yards rushing followed by 36 from Moore. Alyjuuan Paris picked up five receptions for 74 yards receiving to lead all Bulldog receivers.
On defense, Chaun Tolbert led the team with nine total tackles and five solo tackles while forcing a fumble and earning one pass breakup. Waides Ashmon finished the afternoon with eight tackles while Bidwell collected seven.
The Bulldogs will return home to open MIAA conference play against Hope College Saturday, September 30th at 3PM for Family Weekend. You can tune-in to the broadcast on 103.9fm WLEN.
