Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian Engineering Services Director Matt Tomaszewski presented a policy regarding Special Assessments to the Commission at Monday night’s pre meeting.
He told WLEN News that he was asked by City Administrator Greg Elliott to find ways to assess properties based on the entire street project, not only with curb and drive approach installation.
He explained the new proposed guidelines…
He said that the city does not have a special assessment document in place, and that the rules proposed are a new document. Tomaszewski also said that the policy presented to the City Commission is a mix between current practices in Adrian and what other municipalities are doing.
He told WLEN News that there is language in ordinances that says the City can charge based on the project…but there was nothing ‘set in stone’ as to the specific guidelines.
