Addison School Board to Interview Superintendent Candidates Saturday

Addison, MI – The Addison School Board met on September 11 to review applicants for the superintendent position. The Board felt the candidate pool was excellent with 13 applicants and determined to interview five candidates for the position.

The Board is being assisted in the search process by MASB, Michigan Association of School Boards with Dr. Rodney Green as the consultant. The interviews will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday September 16 at the Board meeting room. The public is encouraged to attend the interviews. A second round of interviews is planned for Monday September 18.

Candidates and the times they will be interviewed are as follows:

Saturday September 16
8:30 a.m., Thomas Durbin, Ed.S., Head of School, Lenawee Christian School since 2013. Previously, he was principal in Onsted for six years and was assistant principal in Hudson for ten years. He was also an athletic director and teacher.

9:20 a.m. Steven Hope, Ph.D., former superintendent, Goshen Community Schools, Indiana 2020-2023. Previously, he was deputy superintendent in Goshen, High School Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean of Students for Penn, Indiana. He also taught for nine years.

10:10 a.m. Dan Bauer, former superintendent for Shelby Schools 2012-2018. Since then, he has served in several administrative positions as interim, including most recently interim superintendent for Fremont Schools. Previously, he was superintendent in Cheboygan and Saranac, and was principal in Farwell and Baldwin. He also taught for several years and was a business owner.

11:00 a.m. Dan Hyliard, Ed.D., class principal and AP Coordinator for Ann Arbor Pioneer High School since 2021. Previously, he was HS principal in Okemos, HS Principal in Columbia and assistant principal for Jackson Schools. He also taught for several years at Vandercook Lake.

12:30 p.m. Jodi Ferris, M.Ed., Principal at Pathfinder Elementary School in Fremont, Michigan since 2019. Previously, she was K-5 literacy coach and taught in Fremont since 1997. She also taught for several years in Shelby.

The Board expects to appoint a new superintendent to begin fall, 2023.
